[MANDATORY PLATFORM STANDARD]

Welcome to the Yo! crew! Your journey with us is built on a clear and friendly Tutoring Services Agreement. This agreement sets out the specific rights and responsibilities for both you and Yo!, making sure we're all on the same page. It also confirms your status as an independent contractor, which means you're your own boss!

➡️ What Being an Independent Contractor Means for You

  • Your Responsibilities: As an independent professional, you'll be solely responsible for managing all your own taxes (state, federal, and social security, if applicable) and for making sure you have adequate workers' compensation insurance coverage. Just so we're super clear: Yo! isn't responsible for any taxes imposed by the government where you live.

  • Freedom to Work Elsewhere: Your agreement with us isn't exclusive. That's right! You're totally free to offer your awesome tutoring services to other companies if you want to – no strings attached from our side.

When Our Partnership Might End (Termination):

Our agreement is designed to be a great partnership, and you can end it anytime you want! Just let us know. However, Yo! also has the right to terminate the agreement immediately in certain situations. We call these serious situations a "material breach" of our agreement.

💡Understanding a Material Breach:

Think of a material breach as any action that seriously messes with the integrity of our platform, the trust our amazing yosers place in us, or Yo!'s business itself. While this isn't an exhaustive list, here are some clear examples of actions that count as a material breach and could lead to immediate agreement termination, as laid out in your Tutoring Services Agreement:

  • Compromising Yosers' Safety or Experience: Actions that put yosers' safety at risk or negatively impact their professional experience (like harassment or inappropriate contact outside the platform).

  • Disrespectful Behavior: Being disrespectful or hostile towards any of the Yo! staff members or other tutors. We're all about good vibes here!

  • Breaking Confidentiality: Sharing sensitive information about yosers or Yo! (like confidential data or internal company info) with anyone outside the platform without permission. This includes spilling the beans on social media, forums, etc.

  • Solicitation: Trying to get yosers to take private tutoring classes outside of Yo! or receiving payments directly from them. This is a big no-no that undermines our platform.

  • Fraudulent Activities: Engaging in fraudulent activities, such as allowing another person to conduct sessions using your account. This is a serious violation of our security protocols and undermines the trust and quality standard built around your unique profile on the platform.

  • Sharing Confidential Policies: Sharing any confidential company policies, rules, or specific contract details related to tutors and tutoring at Yo! with third parties without authorization (this includes sharing the fee you receive per session).

  • Breaking a Mandatory Platform Standard: Failing to meet any of the essential requirements in policies marked with the [MANDATORY PLATFORM STANDARD] tag. These are the foundational rules for safety and quality that everyone agrees to, so not following them is a serious issue.

  • Using Yo! for Illegal Activities: Using the platform, our sessions, or any communication channel with users for any purpose that breaks the law. We have a zero-tolerance policy for this.

➡️ Keeping You in the Loop: Changes to Our Agreement & Policies

Sometimes, things change! The terms of your agreement might be updated if, for example, we change some policies that are covered by the agreement.

  • If this happens and requires your agreement, we'll send you a new version of the agreement or an annex for you to sign.

  • If we update a policy that isn't specifically mentioned in the agreement and doesn't require a new signature, we'll make sure to post an announcement on your tutor dashboard so you're always in the loop!
